What’s your story?

I am a speed climber out of Central Rock Gym Watertown near Boston, Massachusetts in the USA. I started my career at the age of 11 and quickly joined the competitive climbing community. I am now competing on the Male Junior and Men’s US Team. I made my international debut in 2016 at the World Cup in Arco, Italy and the Men’s World Championship in Paris. I enjoy combining the power and explosiveness of speed climbing with the attention to detail and route planning required in difficulty climbing.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love to spend my summers outdoors, deep water soloing, and breaking new ground on outdoor climbs in New England. When I am not climbing, I enjoy sailing with friends, skiing in the Austrian Alps, and scuba diving as a certified rescue diver. I have a nerdy side too – I’ve spent summer time interning at MIT in a Mechatronics Lab, and I have a co-patent from some of the work I’ve done there!

 What is your favorite aspect of climbing?

My favorite part about rock climbing is carefully analyzing each move on a climb, and then putting it all together with a balance of power and technique.

What’s your most memorable climbing experience?

During the summer of 2015, I spent seven weeks on Rattle Snake Mountain climbing on some great classic routes, with the occasional first ascent taken by members of our group.  That was my first time falling in love with outdoor climbing!

What’s your recent climbing accomplishment?

Member of both Men's and Youth US Speed Climbing Team

* 2016 Arco World Cup: 30th (first international event)

* 2016 Paris World Championship: 40th

* 2016 Guangzhou Youth World Championship: 14th

Where is your favorite climbing place? Why?

The Kaiser is in Tyrol Austria is by far the best place to climb on the planet! With everything from big wall slab climbs to tough overhung power climbs, the Kaiser provide all climbers with a great view and styles of their choosing!

What colors you like best?

By far the best colors are the lighter ones, especially yellow which is the color of happiness!

What’s your favorite food?

My favorite thing to ingest is an avocado banana smoothy. I have this many mornings, and it is a great tasting and healthy way to start my day!

What’s else you would like to share with Kailas Friends?

My lifetime climbing goal is to learn to love crimps! And my secret super power is that my hand skin grows back kinda sorta quickly!
