Whats your story?

I started climbing in school and it wasnt long before the climbing bug bit and it bit me hard. My mom took it upon herself to learn about climbing and coach me up the ladder to success. I am now a reigning South African champion in both the Lead and Boulder disciplines holding over thirty gold medals. I was a part of the first team South Africa sent to compete on an international scale in 2010 and continued to captain the team until 2014 when I aged out of the youth competitions.

Over the past couple of years time management has become a slight issue, because of this factor my focus began to shift outdoors where the beauty of the mountains grasped my heart. And here we are. A coach. A student. A climber.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

If I am not training or climbing, I am writing films, making movies or reading books. I enjoy drawing, slacklining, running and spending time with likeminded people.

What is your favorite aspect of climbing?

My favorite aspect of climbing is the people who accompany the sport, they make every moment enjoyable and generate psyche when all levels are low. Climbing is about accomplishing the insanity of a move and encouraging people to do the same.

Whats your most memorable climbing experience?

My most memorable experience in the mountains happened climbing at Howick Falls, KZN, South Africa.

As a little girl I used to watch people climb the magnificent rock faces in the small town of Howick. It was only at the beginning of 2016 when I greeted those rock faces. Climbing in a place that I had almost began to forget about was a bit difficult, even more so when the abseil began and the heavens opened above. Although we couldnt hear one another and all four of us were drenched at the top of the multi pitch, climbing with a waterfall a couple of meters to your right is one epic experience.

Whats your recent climbing accomplishment?

I recently took Gold at Boulder Nationals in Open Woman and Gold in the regional competitions in open Women.

Where is your favorite climbing place? Why?

Waterval Boven South Africa. Boven is a place filled with magic and wonder. Perfectly flat edges on over exposed faces allow for some unrealistic and almost impossible moves to become a reality on long sustained faces. Boven contains routes from all grade ranges and has something for everyone.

What colors you like best?

My favorite color is green, but I love pink and I adore blue.

Whats your favorite food?

Definitely Bacon. Or apples and double cream Yogurt. OOORRRR. Chocolate, because chocolate.

Whats else you would like to share with Kailas Friends?

I am a wild child with flowers in my hair and a crazy passion for heights and exploring our earth.
