Whats your story?

Tim is a climber, alpinist, and adventurer from Switzerland. He splits his time between Wales UK to further his studies in product design and Switzerland while still traveling around the world climbing. He has been climbing for over 14 years all over the world, from bouldering competitions in China and scaling frozen waterfalls in Switzerland to clipping bolts in in Spain.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Tims passion lies in climbing, however when hes not climbing, he can be found ski touring and trail running in the mountains all over Switzerland and the UK. His other passion is content creation, from photography to videography.

What is your favorite aspect of climbing?

Being in a remote mountain range looking for potential new routes, but even hanging at a sport cliff putting up new lines. Its all a feeling of discovery and finding something no one else has ever climbed. For Tim, being in the outdoors and being with like-minded friends, training and having the unparalleled feeling of strength and power over mind is what he enjoys most in climbing.

Whats your most memorable climbing experience?

Hanging high up on a multi pitch, belaying in a

small groove, looking around the corner seeing lightning strike the mountain next to him… all make his heart drop.

“To make matters worse, I couldn't stop thinking about how much metal we all had hanging on us. By the time my partner made it up until I didn't have a smile on my face anymore

and we had the option of climbing up the exposed headwall or abseil a few pitches. The abseil was what we did. I don't think that I ever rigged and abseiled so fast!”

Whats your recent climbing / mountaineering accomplishment?

Finals in the Swiss drytooling championships

First at Skimo Scotland.

Solo speed ascent of the Piz Kesch

Solo running speed accent of Piz Julier

Where is your favorite climbing place? Why?

My top 3 would be:

1)    Slate Quarrys in North Wales UK

a.    This is a special place to Tim, as it was the first place he bolted a new route, and changed his perspective on climbing from being a selfish sport only going after grades to giving back to the climbing community by contributing to and establishing new climbing areas and routes.

2)    Magic Wood, Switzerland

a.    This is a world-class bouldering destination. As it says it in the name, its a magical forest with mythical climbs, located in Tims backyard with less than an hour drive form home.

3)    The Gastlosen range in Switzerland

a.    The Gastlosen offers a range of impressive limestone towers with lots of pockets to pull on. One of Tims all time favorites here is to climb the big limestone slabs which has been carved out by the rain giving it awesome tufas and runnels that you can bridge and pinch in-between.

What colors you like best?

Orange, red yellow, anything bright that stands out on the mountain.

Whats your favorite food?

Green smoothies, coffee and my mums homemade spaghetti bolognese.

Whats else you would like to share with Kailas Friends?

My motto to live by: lifes about trying new things, even if it means taking even greater steps and doing something we arent used to. You never know if you dont try!
